A Fun Outdoor Wedding in Ypsilanti
I was thrilled when my buddypal’s daughter, Brie, asked if I would shoot her fun outdoor wedding to Eric. I’ve been friends with the family for decades and it was such a joy to be part of their celebration. It took place at the couple’s old farmhouse in rural Ypsilanti. Here are just a few of my favorites from a June wedding in Ann Arbor’s cool cousin, Ypsi.
Brie peers through Eric’s ring, just like she did during the ceremony.
Mother and daughter get ready in tandem.
Bride Brie’s sister (and maid-of-honor), Clarice, puts the final touches on her veil.
Mother and daughter watch as guests arrive to the ol’ farmhouse.
Mother-of-the-bride, Angie, walks the Farina family dog, Mika, down the grassy aisle.
Father-of-the-Bride, Chris, looks out to check and see if everything is ready to walk his daughter to the altar.
As I was walking backwards down the aisle, I momentarily turned to see where I was going and saw this fun fellah smiling at me. Found out afterward he was an uncle of the bride.
Dad walks daughter to the altar.
Brie’s hair and gown were outstanding in the field.
The couple exchange rings.
SIDE NOTE: I can’t get over the wonderful coincidence of me doing a camera flash test at home on the day of the wedding with my own wisteria. I shared that photo and Chris texted me asking if I was already AT the wedding site. Nope, I had no idea they were getting married under a wisteria arch.
HITCHED!
Eric and Brie had such fun with the official portraits.
Henrietta, Brie and Mika all pause for an official portrait.
(Guesses in the comments who Henrietta is.)
Chris, who is also an ace photographer, knew exactly when to peer in during part of the indoor portrait session.
This woman was staring and sketching so intently. Turns out, she was artistically signing the guest book with a drawing of their cool house.
Brie gives the best man a nod and gesture as he wells up during his toast.
Talk about welling up; I, myself, did too as daddy hugs daughter after their dance and mom & son slow dance.
Some of the guests actually took flight!
Brie was so happy.
In the spirit of the old farmhouse and father-of-the-bride, Chris, using old timey film cameras, I caught his daughters hugging outside of the gauzy wedding tent screen and thought it looked like a hazy, century-old snapshot from some great grandparent’s album.
