Our photography business is green. To make our eco-friendly wedding photography business comply with green standards, we put solar panels on our roof, drive hybrid and electric vehicles (EV) and now our delivery system is all electronic. We’ve greatly reduced our carbon footprint and have a 85% recycle to trash ratio, including composting of organic waste. Our workspace is energy efficient and we are working with a LEED consultant to certify our studio.

This was a fun year, photographing weddings around Metro Detroit and Oakland County, Michigan. Here is just a small sampling of the couples I was lucky enough to spend time with. With decades of experience in news photography, I really enjoy shooting candid photos in a documentary photojournalism style. I worked for The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, AP — The Associated Press, and many other news organizations. Yes, I love shooting portraits too! I was lucky enough to photograph three great brides and grooms in three fantastic weddings in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan this year. The couples were fun, really enjoyed themselves and allowed me to shoot posed images as well as my passion: candids in a documentary photojournalism style (I am a veteran of The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, AP — The Associated Press, and many other news organizations).

In the healing process, we generally use that word to mean emotional and spiritual help. At a recent medical conference, I had the honor of helping support bone marrow transplantees.
And then they supported me.
After more than a year of insane political discourse — pre and post election — it’s good to divert our attention to something a bit less agonizing. But uh-oh, my favorite movies of 2016 also carry political and social baggage. Maybe that’s just a marquee of the times we live in now. We are lucky to live in a society where art can be a protest and a protester can create art. Enough with the previews; here are the five films that captured my attention this year.
