Destination Wedding: Vermont

We had a great opportunity to photograph a wedding in Vermont, so we traveled to New England and spent a beautiful, long weekend with all the family’s kith and kin.

Notes From Down Under

My wife, Marci, holds reasonably still for a 30-second-long time exposure on my iPhone, kinda/sorta secured to a selfie stick with a plastic tripod bottom. That’s the Milky Way as seen from Down Under in Collingwood, NZ.

“My dad would’ve LOVED these views.”

That’s one of the thoughts, emotions really, that ran through my head each time I looked up at the New Zealand heavens.

After snapping this photo, I went up to the family who were wondering why I was taking pictures of a puddle on the beach. They loved the photo and I happily emailed it to them. A week later, this beach town was devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle.

The joke goes something like this, no matter where we go in New Zealand, chaos soon follows.

Scenic Scotland

“When the heart is full the tongue will speak.”

— Scottish proverb

Please allow me to change just one word of the proverb, from tongue to camera. I have had the unbelievable luck to have visited Scotland three times in my adult life. And though I’ve written much about it in the past, this time, I’ll let my favorite photos do the tongue wagging. May Ye Banks and Braes O’ Bonnie Doon beckon you to wander here also.

Weddings at Troy Historic Village

If Hollywood location scouts were looking for a town from yesteryear that exuded pure Americana, all they’d need to do was take a quick trip to the middle of Troy, Michigan. If you were unconscious, then woke up in the middle of the Troy Historic Village, you’d swear you’d just time traveled a couple hundred years into the past.

I have been lucky enough to photograph several weddings at The Village. Here’s a smattering of my favorites.

“It’s like rai-ain, on your wedding day …” — Kelly and Colin tied the knot at The Troy Historic Village. The rain tried, but couldn’t dampen their obvious joy and love.
